The show was a success!
For those not in the loop, I participated in my very first showcase just off the Las Vegas strip on October 25th. I've been preparing for months (the showcase director contacted me in July) and it all paid off. Literally...in actual dollars. I learned a lot about the business side of art and the logistics of putting on a showcase. A far cry from my sketching by lamp light at my drawing desk. I'm only posting about it now because I'm just recovering.
This was also the first time getting first-hand reactions from people in my presence. I know that I really should draw for myself and not care (blah blah) but I was relieved with the great response. Standing there with a showcase had me feeling very...vulnerable.
Interest in my work is steadily building in this town which makes me think that an actual career is more than just a dream.
Anyway, I started a Facebook page for my art that I'll use for networking. You can take a peek here if you want www.facebook.com/AmiriBennettA…
. Better yet, friend me and we can keep up to date with one another. I'm still getting a handle on this social networking stuff. Maybe I'm just too old fashioned.
Not letting go of this page though. I'm far too grateful to my friends here.
